Shop Supervisor

Shop: 6 St Mary's Street, Bungay, NR35 1AX.

Working hours: 15 hours a week over 2-3 days, including weekends on rota. Pay: £12.36 per hour, increasing to at least £12.71 per hour from 1 April 2026.

Sue Ryder is one of the largest charity retailers in the UK with over 400 shops. Every item sold in our shops generates funding that supports 2.7 million hours of expert medical, practical, bereavement and emotional support each year, delivered in hospices, people’s homes and communities. Our mission is to support those approaching the end of life or living with grief.

We have a presence on high streets across the country, offering innovative boutique, vintage and retro shops as well as large format stores. As a member of the retail team, you will help inspire communities to provide more care by innovating and collaborating to reduce, reuse, and recycle. You will also contribute to increasing the income that generates the vital funds needed to keep our care and support services running.


Key Responsibilities

* Drive business, push sales, and achieve targets.
* Lead a team to deliver great customer service to donors and customers.
* Collaborate with the local community to generate donated stock to drive sales.
* Recruit, train, and retain a volunteer team, providing leadership and guidance.
* Set high standards of merchandising and housekeeping, prioritising health and safety.
* Manage effective stock processes to keep the shop well merchandised with fresh, seasonal stock.
* Act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder, supporting in‑store campaigns to promote the brand and national fundraising initiatives.
* Manage EPOS operations to facilitate sales.


Minimum Essential Criteria

* Customer service experience.
* Previous supervisory experience.
* Cash handling/till work.
* Basic IT skills (emails, instant messaging, video calls).
* Organisational skills.
* Lone working experience.


Desirable Criteria

* High street retail, leisure, or hospitality background.
* Experience with KPIs and targets.
* Charity retail experience.
* Health & Safety knowledge.
* Team player.
* Key holder / opening/closing responsibilities.
* Experience in merchandising / stock rotation.
