LOCATION: Glasgow - Hybrid
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £50,000 - £60,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Senior Tester will join our Audio Content Syndication team, who are focused on ensuring that BBC Sounds music, radio and podcasts are prominent, discoverable and visible to users wherever and whenever they are browsing.
The senior tester will be responsible for designing, communicating and implementing test approaches in product development. Work closely with all members of the product development team. The Senior Tester will co-ordinate testing activities for a product, implement test automation and ensure the spread of good test practices and knowledge.

Audio Content Syndication is a backend platform team that surfaces the catalogue of Sounds metadata to 3rd parties both within the BBC and externally.

You'll be engaged in all aspects of SDLC, including architectural changes, designs, development, testing and delivery, working closely with discipline leads.
You'll be reviewing new features to be implemented and be held accountable for leading and contributing to all related testing activities, ensuring delivery of high-quality experiences to our audiences!

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
Working with product teams and stakeholders to ensure that each feature is clearly understood before implementation, validated early and throughout implementation, and verified when implementation is complete.
Support, implement and help shape the test approach.
Coordination and communication of testing activity across cross-functional teams, working alongside cross-discipline team members.
Continual review and improvement of test processes to ensure they are working effectively.
Must be able to create and maintain Automation tests in JavaScript/TypeScript/Java.
Working within the squad to perform testing across a range of supported devices.
Troubleshooting-finding critical bugs or verifying reported issues, identifying their underlying cause and seeing them through to resolution liaising with other teams where appropriate.
Contribute to the Agile team ceremonies, attending daily stand-ups, team retros, Amigo sessions, backlog grooming and design sprints.
Mentor squad members and share knowledge.
Learn from and contribute to the wider test community.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Ability to input and support in creation, adaptation and execution of effective test strategies. Evidence planning, executing functional, end to end and regression test.
Working experience with at least one test automation framework.
Experience with API testing and/or Metadata testing with Postman/Bruno or similar tooling.
Experience applying an analytical and detail-orientated approach to problem solving and solution design. Good written and spoken communications skills.
Work closely and communicate clearly within cross-functional teams.
Test data management and a thorough understanding of how these impacts surrounding systems.
Experience in using AWS microservices.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
Strong aptitude for learning new technologies, keeping up to date with the testing community and exploring new ways of working.
Information Systems Examinations Board (ISEB), International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) or Certified Agile Tester certification.
Relevant degree
