The Practice Educator/Facilitator has a prime responsibility to develop and support the midwifery staff, midwifery support workers with a focus on student midwives. The post holder will act as an expert practitioner providing midwifery clinical leadership and foster a climate where practice development becomes integral to the education of all staff.
Support the Practice Education Lead and Head of Midwifery & Gynaecology with the educational activities of individual pre and post registration students and return to practice (RTP) midwives, by working in partnership with the HEI to promote evidenced based learning in the development of midwifery practice, encompassing local and national service objectives
Work in collaboration with midwifery management team to move services forward in line with external agencies and government initiatives and the overall vision for the service
Develop and deliver formal and informal education provision, actively participating in the provision of education for staff (individual or groups) and evaluate education programmes against evidence based literature
Work with the Practice Education Lead and deputy head of midwifery & gynaecology services identifying gaps in knowledge and skills of maternity staff and developing appropriate training to support developing maternity staffs clinical knowledge, skills and competence in order to meet both Personal Development Plan (PDP) objectives and the identified needs of the maternity services
To be responsible for the planning, organising and co-ordinating of ongoing teaching programmes to ensure the clinical skills of the multidisciplinary team are maintained in line with evidence based literature, in particular educational programmes such as the PROMPT
