Overview
GXO is currently seeking a talented and driven individual to join our team as Regional Transport Manager on our WHSmith contract. Based at our Birmingham site, this role also includes oversight of operations at our Swindon location.
You will lead the transport teams across both sites, ensuring the delivery of a best-in-class service for our customer. You will be accountable for safety, legal compliance, operator licensing, and the efficient execution of transport plans. A key part of your role will be to ensure that all customer SLAs and KPIs are consistently met and exceeded.
The role is being offered on a full-time, permanent basis. You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexibility will be required with your working hours; this is logistics after all!
What You’ll Do On a Typical Day
* Ensure a legal, effective, consistent and efficient transport operation is maintained for all sites within your region, meeting agreed delivery schedules and optimising fleet use whilst achieving service levels, cost criteria and human resource commitments
* Management, support and resolution of daily opportunities through your team, building a positive relationship with GXO teams and our customer
* Provide leadership and guidance for the transport team to enable them to meet objectives, encouraging open communication, constructive feedback and engagement
* Monitor transport operational expenditure and constantly review methods to improve operations to maximise plan adherence and performance
What You Need To Succeed At GXO
* A proven track record of a transport operational management background within a fast-paced distribution environment, preferably with exposure to retail
* International CPC and an excellent working knowledge of transport compliance
* Understanding of key operational cost drivers and P&L or cost centre management and cost focussed
* The ability to lead, motivate and inspire your team with a real drive for optimisation, continuous improvement and safety
