Children's Residential Worker - Shift Leader (Cae Bryn House), Bridgend County Borough Council
32 hours per week
Do you have experience working in Children’s Residential Care? If so, this is an exciting time to join Bridgend CBC as we remodel the way we meet the needs of children and young people who need our support. We continue to expand our provision with an addition of a new service.
The homes provide placements of varying lengths to children/young people in the age range 6 to 18 years (at the time of admission) who for various reasons cannot live with their own immediate or extended family. The homes are committed to offering a stimulating, safe, caring environment that promotes a holistic approach to all aspects of the child/young person’s life. The homes aim to:
* Provide children/young people with an individualised package of support that focuses on their assessed needs.
* Offer children/young people therapeutically informed interventions to assist them in achieving personal well‑being.
* Assist children/young people to explore their own issues and experiences and work through any emotions and feelings which may become a barrier to a stable placement and future accommodation.
* Provide appropriate levels of support that recognise, value, and encourage children/young people to maintain personal skills and competencies and promote their confidence and self‑esteem.
* Provide a comprehensive package of educational support to promote the best possible outcomes for children/young people within their educational setting.
* Work closely with families or substitute families to ensure that when children/young people return home or go to other suitable placements promoting their young person’s independence.
* Provide age‑appropriate independent living programmes to assist young people to be able to develop the necessary skills to enable them to, if appropriate, live independently.
As a Children’s Residential shift leader based in one service, you may be required to work across a range of services supporting young people and the residential service as a whole.
