Job Description
Financial Reporting and Governance
3. Take ownership of all financial reporting activities, including monthly management accounts, statutory submissions, and consolidated group results.
4. Ensure all reporting meets the required standards under IFRS and UK GAAP, as well as relevant regulatory frameworks.
5. Uphold strong internal controls and governance processes across the finance function to safeguard accuracy and compliance.
Leadership & Team Development
6. Lead and inspire a team of finance professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and structured development opportunities.
7. Build a culture that prioritises accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance team.
Operational Finance Management
8. Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and balance sheet reconciliations.
9. Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as auditors, banking partners, and advisory firms.
10. Champion system and process enhancements that improve efficiency and support future organisational growth.
Strategic Finance Support
11. Work closely with the CFO and Director of Finance to deliver meaningful financial analysis that informs strategic decisions.
12. Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term planning cycles, offering clear insights and data-driven recommendations.
13. Drive innovation in the finance function by identifying opportunities for automation and digital optimisation.
The Successful Applicant
14. Extensive background in finance within an insurance environment, with a solid understanding of industry-specific controls and compliance expectations.
15. Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with substantial post‑qualification experience operating at a senior level within a finance function.
16. Deep technical expertise in financial reporting and core accounting standards, with the ability to interpret complex financial information and ensure accuracy across all outputs.
17. Demonstrated success in leading, coaching, and growing finance teams, ideally within fast‑scaling, innovative, or technology‑enabled businesses.
18. A strong interest in emerging technologies, including the application of AI and automation within finance processes.
19. Outstanding analytical thinking, organisational capability, and communication skills, with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
20. A track record of building and enhancing financial systems and processes that support operational efficiency and future growth.Previous experience within insurance or other regulated financial services sectors, bringing knowledge of regulatory expectations and industry best practice.
