About the Role This role of Senior Editor supports the development of educational products by working flexibly across sectors to create pedagogically sound content that aligns with the Customer Value Proposition, meets market needs, and is delivered on time and within budget. Under the guidance of the Portfolio Product Manager and Managing Editor, you will contribute to defining value-added product components and assist with market research during early product lifecycle stages. You will be briefing and overseeing editors and suppliers, conducting quality checks, and managing risks and issues to ensure timely delivery. The role also includes specifying products and managing their creation in collaboration with senior colleagues. A key responsibility is working with writers on major projects, guiding content development to ensure educational effectiveness and market relevance. The role manages project schedules and coordinates with suppliers and cross-functional teams to meet publication deadlines, while also helping monitor and manage budgets. It supports commissioning activities and collaborates with departments such as Design, Digital, and Production to ensure solutions are pedagogically appropriate. Additionally, the role identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation, helping implement new processes and systems to enhance product development efficiency and effectiveness. We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office. About You Essential: Publishing experience Experience developing educational products and teaching and learning content Good knowledge of product development process, ideally within an educational publishing context Understanding of the principles of English learning and teaching Understanding of educational teaching and learning requirements Ability to speak and write English to a native-speaker level of fluency Attention to detail, accurate, able to work in a team Excellent communication skills Problem-solving Desirable: Knowledge of English language teaching First-hand experience of teaching, ideally in an ELT environment Recognized ELT qualification Benefits We care about work/life balance here at OUP.
