Band 6 Occupational Therapist : Frailty Wards (Care of the Elderly and Medicine)
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join Wards at Coventry Hospital which supports our frailty patient cohort. This role offers an excellent opportunity to support patients to regain function, maximise independence, and achieve a safe and effective discharge home.
About The Role
You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering high‑quality assessments and interventions for adults with a range of rehabilitation needs. Many of our patients present with frailty, deconditioning after acute illness, and complex discharge planning requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Completing comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments
* Developing person‑centred rehabilitation plans
* Contributing to service development and maintaining high clinical standards
Role
To support your transition into a Band 6 role, you will be supernumerary for your first two weeks, giving you time to:
* Meet the team
* Familiarise yourself with service processes and pathways
* Identify training and development needs
We are committed to ongoing professional development and will support you to develop both your clinical and leadership skills within an experienced and friendly team.
Requirements
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
* The post holder will manage a caseload of patients with varying diagnosis and / or complex needs, using evidence‑based practice and client‑centred principles, to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in a defined clinical setting.
* The post holder will participate in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical practice and service development within the area.
* The post holder will ensure development of staff and students through supervision, training, and appraisal.
* To support the learning and development of students and staff.
* To develop enhanced clinical skills and knowledge in an area of interest linked with patient cohorts (e.g. cognition, specific clinical condition, acute rehabilitation).
* To participate in 7‑day working patterns as required.
