Medical Receptionist
LongviewMedical Centre is looking to recruit an experienced Part Time Receptionist to join our friendly supportive team. The post is for 30 Hours perweek Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and
Experienceof working in general practice is essential. Applicants should be computer literate. You will need to workunsupervised so the ability to use your own initiative and prioritise your workis essential.
Youmust be flexible to cover holidays and staff sickness as and when required.
Thepost is a permanent position, subject to satisfactory references, requiredemployment checks appropriate to the post and a successful 12 monthprobationary period.

Main duties of the job
To provide an efficient helpful Reception service to the Practice andensure that Practice data is collected, stored, maintained and retrievedeffectively whilst continually providing patient confidentiality.
Answering general enquiries, explaining surgery procedures, making new andfollow-up appointments and generally advising patients on non clinical matters
Use computerised appointment system as per training
Sorting and distributing incoming mail. Record requests for home visits
Receiving samples, logging and ensuring the correct forms accompany them tothe laboratory
Receiving and recording telephone messages for the Doctor/Nurse.
Taking requests for repeat prescriptions and preparing them on the computer. Dealing appropriately with outgoing mail.
Ensuring that the reception area is left tidy and ready for use by incomingcolleagues together with any information about unresolved or urgent matters

A two Doctor partnership, with a Practice Nurse, ANP, Practice Manager and an administration team of Care Navigators. We are a small friendly supportive team.
The post is a permanent position and salary is negotiable, depending on experience.

9. Receiving andrecording telephone messages for the Doctor/Nurse/ Health Visitor
10. Bookingambulances for patient hospital appointments or admissions
11. Taking requestfor repeat prescriptions and preparing them on the computer for collection
12. Dealingappropriately with outgoing mail
13. Liaison withhospitals, primary health care team, community services and social services
14. Using photocopier machine when necessary
15. Ensuring that thereception area is left tidy and ready for use by incoming colleagues togetherwith any information about unresolved or urgent matters
16. Cover othermembers of staff during holiday or sick leave
