Financial Accountant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mandarin-speaking Financial Accountant to join a fast-growing private equity-backed FMCG group with operations across the UK and Europe.
The business owns several established consumer brands and continues to expand internationally. This role will play a key part in strengthening financial controls, supporting group reporting, and acting as a key liaison between the UK finance function and the company’s Chinese subsidiary.
This position would suit a newly or recently qualified ACA accountant looking to make their first move from practice, or an industry candidate seeking broader exposure within a dynamic PE-backed environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reporting
* Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Maintain strong financial controls and balance sheet integrity across the UK entity.
* Assist with year-end statutory accounts and external audit processes.
* Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis for senior leadership.
* Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and internal reporting frameworks.
China Subsidiary & International Liaison
* Act as a key finance contact for the Chinese subsidiary, supporting communication between the UK and local finance teams.
* Assist with consolidation of financial information and reporting into the group structure.
* Support oversight of financial processes and controls within the China operation.
* Provide Mandarin language support where required for financial discussions and documentation.
Transactional Finance Oversight
* Oversee and support the Accounts Payable function, ensuring accurate processing and supplier management.
* Improve and streamline AP processes, controls and reporting.
* Assist with cash flow monitoring and working capital management.
Private Equity Environment
* Support the Finance Director with reporting requirements typical within a PE-backed structure.
* Contribute to process improvement, finance transformation initiatives, and systems enhancements as the business continues to scale.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified accountant (ACA preferred), ideally trained in practice.
* Experience within audit, accounting or financial reporting environments.
* Exposure to manufacturing, consumer goods or international groups is advantageous but not essential.
Skills
* Fluent Mandarin and English language skills.
* Strong financial reporting and analytical capability.
* Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
* Confident communicator able to work across international teams.
