British Red Cross are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our Oncology Transport Service team. This exciting position is for someone who has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and can lead and motivate people.

Somerset’s Oncology Transport Service provides vital transport to people who are living with cancer. You'll be helping them to attend appointments for chemo and radiotherapy treatment, by coordinating the team of volunteers who provide their transport. Working as part of a small and fast-paced team, you will play a crucial role in understanding people’s transport needs and helping to fulfil them. You'll also serve as a key point of contact for volunteers, recruiting and inducting them into the service. You’ll also provide day-to-day operational support to help ensure the service runs smoothly and passengers are provided with high-quality support.

This role is unique in that it supports an oncology transport service which is delivered solely by volunteers.

A day in the life of a Service Coordinator:

1. You’ll manage a small team of staff and volunteers ensuring the people who need us receive the best possible service.
2. You’ll spend approximately % of your working time in our office in Taunton. Working the small with staff team and assisting the volunteers.
3. You’ll liaise with partnership agencies and stakeholders to promote the service and build meaningful relationships.
4. You’ll produce and maintain monthly reports.
5. You’ll be involved in the recruitment of new volunteers.

To be successful Service Coordinator you'll need:

6. Experience of working with and supporting volunteers
7. Volunteer management
8. IT literate
9. Understanding of how to improve service quality for the benefit of users
10. Willingness to work flexible hours
11. Ability to deal with queries in a diplomatic, professional and confidential manner
12. Leadership skills and an ability to get the best out of people
13. Knowledge of Health and Social Care services
14. A manual UK driving licence, held for minimum of two years, and access to a vehicle (mileage will be paid for use of own vehicle).
