Social Worker - Safeguarding and Assessment Service (SAS)
Location: Hartlepool, UKPay Rate: £32.87 per hour
Job Summary:
Hartlepool Borough Council is seeking a skilled and motivated Social Worker to join our Safeguarding and Assessment Service (SAS) team. This role involves frontline statutory social work with children and families, focused on child protection, assessments, and safeguarding interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct timely and thorough Child and Family Assessments under Section 17 and Section 47 of the Children Act 1989.
* Lead safeguarding investigations and manage Child Protection Plans.
* Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including schools, health professionals, police, and courts.
* Contribute to Looked After Children planning and proceedings where necessary.
* Maintain accurate, clear, and up-to-date case recordings in line with statutory and local guidance.
* Attend and contribute to legal proceedings, including providing written reports and giving evidence in court.
* Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
Requirements:
* Degree in Social Work (BA/BSc or MA/MSc) or equivalent
* Registration with Social Work England
* Minimum of 2 years post-qualified experience in children's social care
* Strong understanding of child development, safeguarding legislation, and thresholds for intervention
* Excellent communication, report writing, and organisational skills
* Enhanced DBS check required
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a Local Authority frontline team
* Familiarity with Liquidlogic or similar case management systems
* Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle
