The post-holder will manage performance and operational activities across the Division.
Working closely with the Performance and Operations Manager and Divisional Management team, the post-holder will contribute to the delivery of efficient services across the Children’s Hospital through their expertise across all aspects of admitted and non-admitted list management.
The post-holder will contribute to the delivery of challenging performance targets through effective communication and liaison with Consultant, medical, nursing and administrative staff across the BRHC on a day to day basis.
The post holder will line manage the Outpatient Receptionists, providing training and support for the team, including the management of annual leave, sickness, appraisals, and ensuring sufficient cover is provided. They will also be responsible for managing and maintaining the schedule for Outpatient clinic rooms across the Children’s hospital and off-site locations.
1. Collaborate with senior managers and clinical/admin teams to ensure clinical capacity is fully and flexibly utilised.
2. Maintain best‑practice patient booking and ensure compliance with Health Records policies.
3. Lead investigations into administrative patient complaints and implement system or training improvements.
4. Maximise clinic room use and manage team workload effectively.
5. Undertake additional duties as required.
Service Development & Research
6. Identify and recommend improvements to administrative processes.
7. Support cost‑improvement opportunities.
Leadership & Management
8. Provide visible leadership to admin teams and support appraisal quality and compliance.
9. Oversee HR processes for BRHC admitted booking teams, including appraisals, sickness, disciplinaries, and recruitment.
Information Resources
10. Prepare, update, and manage documents using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and workspace tools.
Patient Care
11. Validate patients across admitted and non‑admitted pathways.
12. Support reduction of DNAs through improved communication and adherence to paediatric DNA policy.
13. Ensure accurate PAS registrations and correct demographic data.
Organising & Planning
14. Coordinate effective filling of short‑notice clinic sessions.
15. Adhere to Trust waiting list management standards and complete RTT recording accurately.
16. Provide cross‑cover for APOM across medical and surgical services during leave and sickness.
