Junior Electrical Design Engineer
Peterborough
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with the design of MCC panels, including motor circuits, safety circuits, PLC equipment and panel layouts
* Support the production of I/O configurations, I/O lists, material specifications and bills of materials
* Prepare and update cable lists, basic sizing calculations, electrical test sheets and single–line diagrams
* Assist with cable routing design, containment sizing and updates to building layout drawings
* Support the preparation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) in line with CDM regulations
* Assist with on–site modifications to electrical hardware and panels (24VDC, 230VAC, 415VAC) under supervision
* Take part in electrical testing and basic fault–finding activities on site
* Work closely with senior engineers and other disciplines to learn best practices and improve design quality
Required Qualifications & Experience:
* Technical/Vocational qualification or degree in Electrical Engineering, or C&Aplus;G Level 3 / NVQ Level 3
* Working knowledge of BS7671 and general electrical safety requirements
* Some experience or exposure to AutoCAD, EPLAN, Amtech or similar electrical design software
* Basic understanding of PLCs, drives and control gear (e.g. Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider)
* Comfortable using Excel and standard engineering documentation
* Willingness to learn, ask questions and develop technical skills
* Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally (UK and limited overseas)
Desirable (Not Essential)
* Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
* Exposure to MCC panels, control panels or site–based electrical work
* Awareness of commissioning or testing activities
