Tailored Yarn creates bespoke stories bringing comfort and healing to bereaved children by preserving memories. We are looking for two trustees to join our Board of Directors guiding the direction of this CIC.

This opportunity will help this non profit to apply for grant funding and strengthen its corporate governance. You will be part of the team of Directors which will guide the company in it's decision making going forward.
We want to have a strong impact on improving the welfare of children who experience grief at a young age. Our child friendly illustrated eulogies and stories help preserve their unique family memories.
What are we looking for?
We would welcome candidates with experience in some of the following areas but not all are required as the board is made up of a collection of individuals that work together with different skills.
Corporate Governance

Strategic Planning and Development

It would be good for the Trustees to have a passion for helping families through grief and bereavement in addition to at least one of the following causes
Equality and Diversity
Children and Families
Healthcare and Wellbeing
Disability
Mental Health
We want to promote more equality, diversity and disability within children's literature and to use this as our basis of creating educational workshops to be delivered to schools.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for two new trustees who have experience of helping non profits to succeed. We are looking for candidates with a proven track record of delivering results who can commit to attending four board meetings a year. Ideally we would like someone who can help us with corporate governance while taking an active interest in the business strategy and ongoing projects. Experience in the grief and bereavement sector is advantageous but not essential for this role.
This is a small company that incorporated a year ago but has the potential to have a deep impact on many young lives. It is pioneering a truely novel ideal. Our focus is currently on sustainability and growth. Our committed volunteer workforce is divided into six teams social media, school workshops, fundraising, admin, finance and human resources. We hope to build on the successful start that we have had with a tedx talk, national entrepreneur competition and two crowdfunding campaigns.
As a trustee you'll have an essential role in contributing towards the future direction of Tailored Yarn Memories CIC and making a real difference to the lives of bereaved children.
This year we're expecting to make some important decisions about funding and the future growth of our eulogies and stories, and the board will be leading that change. Three years of fantastic grant funding has put an exciting position of being able to launch our pilot project. However we do need to focus on new streams for income generation going forward in order to achieve sustainability.
For this reason, we're looking for trustees with experience helping small charities achieve steady growth. We hope the next three years will see some incredible new advances in Tailored Yarn Memories.
Our board has a close relationship with our CEO, and prides itself on being very professional yet relaxed where everyone's views matter.
