A Vacancy at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. A fantastic opportunity has opened for a new role within the Oncology Nurse Specialist Team, based at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care in Carlisle. This full‑time Melanoma and Uro‑Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist role will support patients receiving treatment under the umbrella of the Northern Centre for Cancer Care. This post requires extensive post‑registration experience, with some of that experience at a senior level within the required specialist area of practice. You will:
* Support patients along their individualized pathway through a holistic needs assessment, putting personalized care at the heart of everything you do.
* Advocate for patients, providing support through formal clinic appointments and informal reviews.
* Provide information and education, explaining complex diagnoses and treatment regimes, and ensure that patients are fully informed.
* Link and coordinate care, ensuring seamless integration across the multidisciplinary team.
* Develop and review current practices, contributing to improved patient care.
Qualifications and experience:
* Extensive senior oncology nursing experience, ideally with systemic anti‑cancer treatments administered.
* Knowledge of current treatment regimes for melanoma and uro‑oncology.
* Experience as a clinical nurse specialist or significant experience working with oncology patients.
* Strong communication skills and a clear drive and passion for oncology nursing support.
* Desirable to hold qualifications in clinical skills, history taking, and prescribing—though full training will be available.
* Evidence of continuous professional development and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
