We have a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and qualified individual with a passion for theatre or live events to join our team at the Riverfront as a Theatre Technician. Reporting into the Technical Manager you will need to demonstrate proficiency in lighting, sound, or stage management and be able to work collaboratively with performers and staff at the Riverfront Theatre.

Hours:Casual basis - £12.60 per hour (Real Living Wage)

Key Experiences and Qualifications
Main responsibilities will include:
Work as part of the technical team on electrical, sound and staging fit-ups get-ins, strikes, shows and get-outs in the main theatre, studio, and other designated performance spaces.
Ensure the safe usage and maintenance of stage and technical equipment; ensure that all health and safety procedures and safe working practices are followed and safely operate the counterweight flying system.
Set up spaces for conferences, meetings, events, and exhibitions at the Riverfront.
Act as a point of liaison between the Newport Live technical team and visiting companies and promote an overall high standard of customer care and service to the users of the Riverfront.
Essential skills, qualifications and experiences:
A recognised qualification in a technical field or significant experience of working in a technical/theatre environment
Ability to operate and programme a wide range of lighting desks including ETC Eos family desks and software and/or ability to operate and programme digital sound desk and equipment including Yamaha, Allen and Heath, or D&B R1
Understanding of the technical procedures required to operationally run a theatre and arts centre
Self-motivation, a proactive approach, good interpersonal skills, and the confidence to work alone with minimum supervision
Effective prioritisation skills: ability to work well as a team to ensure deadlines and targets are successfully met
The flexibility to work around performance times, which can involve late nights, weekends, and bank holidays
Beneficial skills, qualifications and experiences:
A City and Guilds 2365 qualification (Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations), or qualifications/training undertaken in working at height, tallescope use, IPAF, or pyrotechnics.
Experience of Dante sound networking, computerised lighting systems, networking and concert software, AV equipment, or digital cinema systems and programming
Stage Management experience within a range of different events.
A full UK Driving Licence
Role Requirements
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated individuals to the post of Casual Theatre Technicians to provide technical support for all venues across the city.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide technical support for get-ins, fit-ups, and get-outs, as required by the Technical Manager.
The post will require the post holder to work early mornings, evenings and weekends on a rota basis and the post holder will be required to attend mandatory staff training sessions.
