The Vacancy
Have you ever wanted to join the commercial world as an AQS? If so, this is the opportunity for you!
Here at Wates, we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Surveyor to join our WPS team within the responsive maintenance division, working on social housing contracts in the Derby area. You will be working alongside an existing team of surveyors, providing plenty of opportunities to learn and grow.
We are pleased to offer hybrid working for this role; however, since the office is in Swadlincote, you will need to be within commuting distance to the site.
Key Accountabilities will include:
* Producing commercial reports both internally and externally to the company.
* Ensuring the timely receipt of quotations for materials, equipment, and subcontract works, undertaking commercial assessments of received quotes, and ensuring the timely placement of orders on commercially advantageous terms to facilitate project delivery and meet business objectives.
* Regularly completing on-site measurements and take-offs.
* Ensuring all contractual processes are completed on time.
We are looking for
A candidate with a good work ethic, the ability to work under a Project Surveyor, and within a team of surveyors of different experience levels.
You should ideally be degree qualified in surveying (but this is not essential). More importantly, we are seeking someone willing to learn, adaptable, and with the right attitude to succeed.
Due to the nature of this position, you will need to undergo a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at the offer stage. Applicants with criminal convictions will be assessed individually. We do not discriminate based on criminal records or disclosed offenses. Additional pre-employment checks may also be required.
For more information about the checks involved, please visit: National Security Vetting.
