Senior Building Surveyor
Location: Huddersfield (with hybrid working options)
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Building Surveyor / Contract Administrator to join a well-established and expanding Contract Administration team. You'll be working alongside a mix of Building Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers ranging from recent graduates to senior professionals.
We're looking for someone who can balance being a strong team player with the ability to work independently and drive projects forward. Ideally, you'll have a minimum of 5 years' post-degree experience and be Chartered (or working towards Chartership).
The Role
* You'll be involved in a wide variety of projects and responsibilities, including:
* Acting as Contract Administrator
* Preparing specifications and schedules of work
* Carrying out site inspections and quality management
* Attending site meetings and managing cost control
* Design co-ordination and CDM Consultant / Principal Designer duties
* Party Wall Act surveys and property surveys
* Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
* Key project management duties include:
* Interpreting and delivering project briefs and scopes of service
* Building and maintaining strong client relationships
* Managing project communication, including notices and certificates
* Overseeing contractors on site through visits and meetings
* Planning resources in line with project programmes and deliverables
* Ensuring quality assurance and stage deliverables are met
* Resolving project issues quickly and effectively to client satisfaction
* Providing regular updates to senior management on progress and budgets
The Ideal Candidate
* RICS or CIOB accredited construction degree
* Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in both new build and refurbishment projects
* Strong technical background and current experience providing similar services
* Experience leading and mentoring junior team members
* Confident communicator with proven client-facing experience
* Ability to manage client relationships and service delivery on multiple projects
* Willingness to travel throughout the UK
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work with autonomy
* Full UK driving licence
