SALARY RANGE: $143,894.40 - $223,038.40 yearly
General Summary:
Works independently and collaboratively with physicians to provide complete physical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment of both chronic and episodic disorders. Ensures proper illness and injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) works within a collaborative model to improve patient outcomes by ensuring continuity of care in all settings for patients, families, and staff in both hospital and physician practice environments. The NP remains responsible for the patient throughout treatment, providing physical exams, diagnoses, health care plans, and determining recovery. Referrals to physicians or specialists are made as needed, but the NP retains clinical management responsibility, including medication management.
Responsibilities:
1. Appropriately prescribes pharmaceuticals considering patient age, medical conditions, allergies, drug interactions, and therapy duration.
2. Performs routine and specialty physical exams and documents age-related preventative health screenings.
3. Educates and counsels patients to promote wellness and addresses health risk behaviors.
4. Interprets diagnostic tests and provides referrals or consultations accordingly.
5. Performs necessary technical and surgical procedures.
6. Dispenses pharmaceuticals appropriately considering patient specifics.
7. Completes discharge planning and patient education; writes orders and prescriptions.
8. Evaluates patient progress and the effectiveness of interventions, documenting responses.
9. Upholds the professional code of ethics.
10. Maintains all licenses and certifications current (including ACLS and PALS if applicable).
11. Performs other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
Required Education, Credentials, and Experience:
* Master’s Degree in Nursing
* Licensed Nurse Practitioner
* Basic Life Support certification
* Registered Nurse license
* Nurse Practitioner certification
* Controlled Substances Registration
Experience: No experience necessary; preferred three (3) years as a Nurse Practitioner in a specific area of practice.
