Are you a talented, motivated, and enthusiastic accountant with experience working in Local Government? This role offers an opportunity to lead our Finance Management team in delivering a high-quality, responsive finance business partnering service to the Adult Social Care and Public Health directorate.
This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative, experienced Local Authority finance professional, preferably with Adult Social Care experience, to join our team and help elevate our support services.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance - Adult Social Care and Public Health, you will influence the direction of the finance business partnering offer to the directorate. You will support staff in adapting and making continuous improvements to transform Adult Social Care, working collaboratively to provide high-quality financial information that supports the directorate in achieving efficiencies.
You will join a supportive team committed to delivering the highest quality service at the lowest possible cost.
About the role
1. Leadership and Management: Lead by example and manage the Financial Management team within the Adult Social Care and Public Health directorate to deliver an outstanding finance business partnering service.
2. Regulatory Compliance: Demonstrate thorough understanding and knowledge of legislation affecting local government finance and service delivery, including legislation impacting Adult Social Care Services.
3. Experience: Proven experience advising and supporting senior managers on strategic financial matters, including complex calculations, options appraisals, sensitivity and variance analysis.
4. Communication: Possess excellent communication skills to explain complex financial information clearly and confidently to non-financial professionals.
5. Performance Management: Drive continuous improvement to ensure reliable financial information supports decision-making and reporting.
6. Professional Development: Foster a culture of ongoing learning and growth within the team.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
* CCAB qualification or relevant experience in local government accounting, preferably within Adult Social Care.
* Strong leadership skills to inspire and motivate teams.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Commitment to quality service delivery and value for money.
* Experience advising on financial delivery and communicating complex issues across organizational levels.
* Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
* Proficient IT skills, including spreadsheets and financial systems.
