Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and versatile Fabric Engineer to deliver a high standard of low‑level planned and reactive maintenance across a flagship corporate office environment.
This role is central to ensuring the building remains safe, functional, and well‑maintained, supporting the wider Engineering Team with a variety of fabric‑related tasks.
Key Responsibilities
* Respond promptly and effectively to all fabric‑related helpdesk requests.
* Inspect and repair building fabric elements including floors, walls, ceilings, doors, windows, fixtures, and general hardware (hinges, door closers, fittings).
* Maintain and repair free‑standing and fitted furniture, including minor adjustments and basic joinery tasks.
* Carry out general DIY, semi‑skilled maintenance, painting, decorating, and small redecorating works.
* Inspect and clear drainage gullies and complete other low‑level fabric upkeep tasks as required.
* Make sure systems across Electrical, HVAC and Gas disciplines are safe prior to specialist engineer attendance.
* Support other engineering team members and manage subcontractors completing specialist or planned works.
* Conduct fabric surveys, produce reports and material lists, and complete any reasonable ad hoc duties requested by the client.
Professional and Personal Competencies / Qualifications
* Experience working in a Facilities Management or Building Services environment.
* Comfortable carrying out a wide variety of tasks and supporting client requests.
* Experience working within a corporate or commercial building is beneficial.
* Good understanding of building fabric systems and basic maintenance practices.
* Willingness to triage issues across electrical, mechanical, and gas systems.
* No formal qualifications required – proven experience is key.
