Overview
A family is looking for a kind, reliable, and proactive Personal Assistant (PA) to support a friendly 19-year-old young woman who is a full-time wheelchair user and has learning difficulties. She is sociable, enjoys routine, and values her independence. The PA will provide support at home, in the community, and during travel to and from college. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide one-to-one care and support, helping a young woman thrive in her daily life.
Hours and pay
Wage: £12.21 per hour
Hours: Please note, if you are unable to complete all of the hours but you would be able to commit to a rota basis, we would consider using more than one PA.
Mornings Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 9:00am (may vary depending on college schedule)
Afternoons: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Fridays: 8:00am - 6:00pm
Flexibility will be required.
Duties
* Personal care including: Support with washing, dressing, and toileting
* Assistance with intermittent catheterisation via a Mitrofanoff (training will be provided)
* Moving and handling - supporting safe transfers and mobility needs
* Accompanying her on a short walk to college (approx. 5 minutes away)
* Promoting independence, social inclusion, and engagement in daily life
* Providing emotional reassurance and respectful support
Requirements
* Applicants must be caring, patient, and respectful
* Reliable and consistent with good communication skills
* Comfortable with all aspects of personal care
* Willing to be trained in intermittent catheterisation via Mitrofanoff
* Experience supporting people with disabilities is a plus, but not essential
* All successful applicants will undergo references and an enhanced criminal records bureau check
* Female applicants only permitted under Schedule 9, part 1 of the Equality Act 2010
* Applicants are required to undertake an enhanced DBS check and references
