Track Network Inspector
Key Information
* Grade: Q3
* Contract: Permanent
* Location: Stratford Market Depot
* Working Hours: Nights 23:00hrs – 06:30hrs, Monday – Friday / Sunday – Thursday (may include days and weekend work)
* Closing Date: Tuesday 2nd June at 23:59 hours
Job Purpose
To carry out inspections to LU defined standards and frequencies, planned and ad hoc, ensuring compliance, identifying and managing third party risks, carrying out repairs as required to ensure safety of public and staff and network security and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake inspections to identify problems and develop solutions, carrying out repairs where necessary to maintain track safety standards.
* Identify and resolve third party risks that pose a threat to LU infrastructure.
* Review and prioritise faults from PM5 inspection reports, updating the management system.
* Complete periodic general inspections to required LU standards and ensure compliance.
* Interact with customers/neighbours, resolving complaints and escalating when necessary.
* Produce clear, concise, accurate fault rectification work orders across the network.
* Prepare structured reports to identify trends and provide recommendations.
* Attend team review meetings and present findings of inspections.
* Supervise contractors when required, ensuring work meets required standards.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Knowledge
* Health and Safety rules, regulations and legislation in the railway environment (Essential).
* Engineering and railway rules, regulations, standards and legislation (Essential).
* Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (Essential).
* Track systems/Standards/Construction techniques (Desirable).
* COSHH awareness (Desirable).
* Railsys knowledge to raise, request and evaluate track access or ability to acquire such knowledge (Essential).
* Continuous improvement best practice in scrap, recycling and logistics (Desirable).
* Application for permits and licences for efficient contract operation (Essential).
* Physical and environmental demands requiring extensive walking outside (Essential).
* Inspection license SCL T002/3 (Desirable).
* IOSH certificate, PWT-EH and PTS certification (Desirable).
Skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Essential).
* Excellent communication with people at all levels, internal and external (Essential).
* Analytical approach to data management and problem solving (Essential).
* High accuracy and attention to detail (Essential).
* Strong leadership to develop team and capabilities (Essential).
* Full UK driving licence (Essential).
Experience
* Proven experience working in the track environment (Essential).
* Experience in Track Inspections (Essential).
* Experience managing performance of LU / TfL and Agency teams in a busy operational environment, communicating with diverse stakeholders (Desirable).
* Knowledge of waste management, specifically hazardous materials (Desirable).
