Are you a qualified social worker with experience in auditing and seeking a rewarding role within the public sector? West Berkshire Council is seeking an Audit Officer to join our Children and Family Service, reporting to the Service Manager Quality Assurance & Safeguarding. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective delivery of audit and assurance services within a dynamic and supportive organisation.
The Role
Responsibilities
As an Audit Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the Service Manager to ensure the effective operation of West Berkshire's Quality Assurance & Audit processes within the Children and Family Services. Your main responsibilities will include:
* Conducting audits and reviews to assess compliance with standards and regulations
* Identifying areas for improvement and making appropriate recommendations
* Collaborating with service delivery teams to provide advice and support on quality improvement
* Monitoring progress on implementing audit recommendations
* Preparing reports and presenting findings to relevant stakeholders
In addition, you will contribute to the overall management and leadership of the service, working closely with other colleagues to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to children and families.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
* Experience of completing children services audits and ideally working in an audit or quality assurance role within a local authority or public sector environment
* Sound knowledge of audit methodologies and techniques
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly
* Ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
* Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team
