At Align Property Services, we're looking for a passionate and driven Senior Transport Planner to join our dynamic team. The Transport Planning team are based in Northallerton, however we could consider candidates for the Durham office, with an expectation for regular attendance in Northallerton.

A little more about your team…
Our Transport Planning team was established in 2024 and has quickly grown into a dynamic and collaborative group. We're a close-knit team made up of an Associate Transport Planner, a Principal Transport Planner, a Graduate, and a Degree Apprentice. Together, we bring a mix of experience, fresh ideas, and a shared passion for delivering innovative and sustainable transport solutions. As we continue to grow, we're looking for someone who's excited to contribute, learn, and help shape the future of our team.
Over the past year, our Transport Planning Team has been at the forefront of shaping smarter, more sustainable travel across the region. From designing over 80km of active travel routes that promote walking and cycling, to delivering insightful traffic and public transport studies that align services with the needs of local businesses, the team has made a real impact. They've also developed a compelling business case for a new mobility hub, reviewed more than 30 planning applications on behalf of the Local Highway Authority, and produced high-quality transport documentation to support a range of planning proposals. It's been a year of innovation, collaboration, and meaningful progress and we're just getting started
What you'll be doing
* Collaborate on a wide range of exciting transportation planning projects with multidisciplinary teams.
* Play a key role in mentoring and supporting junior team members to deliver high-quality outcomes.
* Drive innovation and establish best practices across highway schemes and development projects.
* Lead the delivery of Feasibility Studies, Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, LCWIPs, and Active Travel Plans.
* Conduct roundabout and junction capacity checks, contribute to preliminary highway design, and coordinate traffic count and speed data collection.
What we're looking for
* A degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent), with post-qualification experience and the ability to lead and manage project delivery within an engineering consultancy.
* Strong understanding of the UK regulatory system to ensure compliance in all designs and models.
* Proficiency in key engineering software such as AutoCAD, GIS, Arcady/Picady, LinSig, and microsimulation tools.
* Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
* A confident communicator, able to engage effectively with colleagues, clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
* Leadership qualities including mentoring, team building, and a commitment to staying current with industry trends and innovations.
* High standards of ethics and professionalism, with a focus on safety, reliability, and responsible decision-making.
* Membership (or working towards) with TPS, CILT, CIHT, or a similar professional body.
* A full UK driving licence.
