You will work trust wide, be a highly skilled, motivated midwife who will be responsible for ensuring staff training is of a high standard. The Practice Educator Midwife will engage effectively with clinical leaders to ensure training meets the needs of the Maternity Services workforce as well as National and Local Guidance.
The Practice Educator Midwife will ensure that staff are provided with training which will enable them to provide safe, high-quality care within all maternity settings including inpatient and outpatient services. This will be achieved through formal teaching, simulation training and bespoke training needs for individuals and groups.
Main duties of the job
The successful person will support and contribute to the development of patient care and midwifery practice within the Directorate. They will help to co-ordinate local induction packages for all new staff and preceptorship for newly qualified midwives and support staff in performing to their full potential.
·They will be expected to help create a positive learning environment and to lead on the structure and co-ordination of learning activities across the Division ensuring the provision of high quality, multi-professional learning environments. They will be expected to assist with teaching emergency skills drills and support the Senior Management Team to ensure that staff development enables career progression and succession planning
The post holder will work closely with the Head of Midwifery, Divisional Clinical Governance Lead and specialist midwives to ensure robust processes are in place to meet the unit’s governance, training and educational agenda. They will also be required to submit typed reports as required which include statistical information according to Trust requirements
