The Team
We are a fast-growing startup with a young, diverse, and highly motivated R&D team. This role offers a rare opportunity to join at an early stage and make a direct impact on the design and development of our REN Robotic Colonoscope. You’ll work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, where creativity, hands-on problem solving, and continuous learning are encouraged.
The Role
Reporting directly to the R&D Director, the Junior Electronics Design Engineer will contribute to the design, prototyping, and testing of our advanced robotic endoscopy system. The ideal candidate is passionate about applying electronics and embedded systems engineering to real-world medical innovation.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, prototype, and test electronic subsystems and PCBs for robotic control and sensing.
* Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to develop integrated solutions.
* Develop and iterate full-scale functional prototypes.
* Design and execute experiments to validate product performance.
* Troubleshoot and refine circuits using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analysers.
* Support the setup and maintenance of the electronics laboratory, including procurement and calibration.
* Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and documentation within our ISO 13485-compliant quality system.
* Contribute creative ideas to enhance product functionality, performance, and manufacturability.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Right to work in the UK. - Please note that at this time, Atlas Endoscopy is unable to provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must therefore have the right to work in the UK at the time of application.
* Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
* Experience with PCB design and troubleshooting.
* Familiarity with I²C, SPI, and CAN communication protocols.
* Experience with common sensors (Hall effect, IMU, ADC).
* Proficiency in using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and similar lab equipment.
* Basic embedded software skills (microcontroller programming, I²C device interfacing).
* Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment.
Desired Skills
* Experience with 3D printing (FDM, SLA).
* Exposure to FPGA or Xilinx MPSoC systems.
* Knowledge of analog and power electronics.
* Understanding of ISO 13485, IEC 60601, ISO 14971 standards and risk management tools (DFMEA, PFMEA).
* Familiarity with software tools such as Jira, Git, or eQMS platforms.
