Keep IT Moving – Where Great Support Makes the Difference Our client has a requirement for a Desktop Support Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Hattersley, with hybrid working available. Role Purpose Provide high‑quality desktop and end‑user IT support across the organisation Act as a key point of contact for resolving IT incidents and service requests Support the stability, usability, and performance of end‑user IT services Contribute to continuous improvement of IT support processes and documentation Job Role Responsibilities Provide skilled IT support and clearly communicate solutions to end users Respond to and manage IT support tickets via the Service Level Management (SLM) tool Track, route, and escalate issues to the appropriate technical teams when required Keep users informed of progress and resolution timelines Guide users through troubleshooting and problem‑solving processes Follow up with customers and ensure issues are resolved to completion Deliver excellent customer service and consistently exceed user expectations Create, update, and maintain accurate technical documentation Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software Support Microsoft environments and Line of Business (LOB) applications Maintain and grow knowledge of internal systems, procedures, and technologies Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications Desirable: Strong experience in desktop, hardware, and software support Experience supporting Windows 11, network protocols, and M365 applications Knowledge of Microsoft Intune, application packaging, PowerShell, and Autopilot Experience supporting Line of Business (LOB) applications Familiarity with meeting room AV solutions, office networking, and print technology Understanding of IT asset management Exposure to Joiners, Movers, and Leavers (JML) processes Excellent communication and customer service skills Benefits Competitive day rate / salary (dependent on engagement type) Hybrid working (role dependent) Holiday entitlement plus bank holidays Pension contribution Life assurance Health and private medical insurance Additional benefits such as cycle‑to‑work schemes, discounts, and savings programmes Company Information At First Recruitment Group, we understand just how important it is to secure the right people.
