Are you looking for a developing role within the Centralised Outpatients and Administration Directorate within the NHS. If you are then come and talk to us! This key manager role of Head of Booking provides an exciting opportunity in development and improvement of the elective outpatient pathway. As the leader of the centralised outpatient booking department, you would responsible for the deliver of the outpatient booking services, while supporting cross Trust improvement schemes. This full time permanent post working predominantly on the Burnley General Hospital site but supporting all directorates across East Lancashire Hospitals Trust hospital sites. The role will include travelling to facilitate this.

A flexible approach to work is essential with a willingness to work at other Trust sites between the hours of 8am and 6pm, as you would be required to support and manage staff and ensure that there is adequate cover for holidays or sickness absence.

The successful applicant will provide comprehensive managerial support to all Centralise booking colleagues based at the Burnley General hospital


Main duties of the job

* Operationally manage the administration and clerical aspects of the Central Outpatient Booking Department to ensure the delivery of a high quality, modern and patient centred service.
* Review and improve department systems and processes to ensure they are a streamlined as possible. Utilisation of digital process to support the delivery of this.
* With the Directorate Manager, be responsible for service redesign, service development, project design and improvement in relation to all booking services inc, Electronic Referral system and Electronic Patient Record.
* Ensure that an effective communication network exists within the Central Outpatient Booking Department to ensure all staff are aware of corporate and directorate aims and objectives.
* Manage, maintain and monitor the cost effectiveness of the department and ensure that there are timely and effective reviews to ensure the is adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
* Responsible for the selection, recruitment, training and development of staff in accordance with agreed Trust Policies and Procedures for staff.
* Maintain appropriate staff records, staff training records and set objectives and personal development plans for staff as part of the annual personal development review system.
* Provide effective leadership and management to ensure that all staff work in a professional manner, reviewing staff workloads to ensure that staffing levels/skill mix and other resources meet the needs of the service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will work as part of the Centralised Outpatient and Administration Directorate management team. This directorate also covers Community reception, Radiology Reception and booking, Breast Imaging Administration and General Outpatients nursing teams

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of the Centralised Outpatient Booking Team. Providing leadership and excellent communication to the teams. To ensure that they are fully engaged and motivated at work.

The post holder will ensure that their team have the knowledge, skills and experience required to undertake their role. This should include personal development plans so that they can achieve their full potential.

The post holder will work collaboratively and closely across all elective care specialities, to deliver highly effective administration functions as needed.

* Degree, equivalent professional qualification or equivalent level of experience.


Desirable criteria

* Experience in a senior management role in health information and outpatient services
