Estimator - Construction Location: Coventry, West Midlands (Midlands Office) Salary: Competitive (Based on experience) Job Type: Full-Time About the Role We are seeking an Estimator to join a professional construction firm. This is a vital role responsible for the set up and successful running of all aspects of a tender. Working under the regular supervision of the Pre-Construction Director, you will be key to assisting with the effective and efficient running of pre-construction matters. The primary purpose is to prepare tenders and budgets to secure future projects, ensuring costs are kept to a minimum while maintaining excellent relationships with subcontractors and staff. You will also be expected to support, advise, develop, and train all members of the team on pre-construction matters and other business aspects. Key Duties and Responsibilities * Tender and Budget Preparation: Prepare budgets and tenders for new projects. * Documentation Management: Collate tender documents and amendments, and manage the printing and filing of all tender information. * Project Assessment: Review all tender documents to establish project requirements. * Quantity Surveying: Undertake take-offs (both manually and digitally) and produce a Bill of Quantities. * Subcontractor Management: Produce and issue enquiries to subcontractors, collate and evaluate returned quotations, and prepare comparisons. * Costing: Input costs into the Bill of Quantities. * Submission & Post-Tender: Prepare tender submissions, receive, process, and submit post-tender queries, and manage the post-tender period up until contract signature. * Handover: Arrange, carry out, and minute tender handover meetings to the construction team, including the handover of all relevant documents. * Administration: Maintain a diary of all dates (including submission dates), update the subcontractor database, attend site visits, and assist with filing and general administration. * Compliance: Maintain control procedures in accordance with the Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001). Skills and Experience Required Essential Skills and Training: * Ability to read and interpret different sources of written information. * Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook). * Strong communication skills, both oral and written. * Good time management and organisation skills. * Able to work within dedicated timescales. * Possession of a Driving Licence.
