We are seeking an experienced Formal Governance Lead to join the Synergy Programme Management Office (PMO) at a critical stage in the delivery of a major government transformation programme.
In this senior role, you will help shape how decisions are made across a complex, multi workstream environment. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, providing clear, trusted insight that drives decision making and strengthens programme control. Operating within an enterprise PMO model, you’ll influence both embedded teams and central standards, ensuring consistency, quality and effective assurance. Aligned to the Project Delivery Capability Framework, this role offers the opportunity to operate at Practitioner to Expert level and make a visible impact on a high-profile Government Major Projects Portfolio (GMPP) programme.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and evolve Synergy Programme’s end to end formal governance ecosystem (boards, sub-boards, forums, reporting cycles, and escalations.
* Lead the programme wide formal governance, reporting and MI framework, ensuring consistent standards, controls and cadence across all workstreams.
* Provide clear, decision ready information for senior boards by producing high-quality, forward-looking insight on trends, risks and required actions, and maintain accurate, trusted performance data consistently reflected across plans, baselines and forecasts.
* Work across the Cluster and build strong relationships with Senior Responsible Owners (SROs), Programme Directors and Programme Chief Operating Officer alongside their Private Office teams, workstream leads, Suppliers and External Partners and Cross-Government Bodies.
* Drive continuous improvement across the PMO model, strengthening controls, improving MI quality, and increasing actionable insight. Maintain a single, accurate and timely source of truth for formal governance, with robust assurance processes that build senior stakeholder confidence.
* Ensure seamless and integrated reporting to governance boards by working closely with the PMO leads to ensure accurate MI and reporting flows across the programme.
* Line management of a small Formal Governance team.
