Role Summary
There is an immediate opportunity for a bright, innovative, organised and experienced team manager to lead one of the production teams. The shift-based role will involve managing and developing a high performing and dynamic team within a fast paced and exciting environment. The role will also have responsibility for ensuring the operation implementation of lean manufacturing improvements, as well as ensuring efficient engagement and collaboration with Quality, MSAT, Engineering, Validation, Training, OPEX, and Supply Chain. The role will be based on site, within the Autolus Manufacturing site(s) in Stevenage, however, may occasionally involve travel to other sites in London.
Key Responsibilities
* To lead & motivate a diverse team (up to ~20 staff) to deliver manufacture of high-quality cell-based drug products, ensuring safety, quality, compliance, consistent supply & cost objectives
* To take responsibility for a defined area of manufacturing on defined shift pattern
* To diligently manage individuals within their shift team, ensuring performance & development are balanced & delivered in line with personal & company goals
* To achieve the targets & objectives for the area through the use of Operational Excellence tools, spending ~20% of their time on the shop floor with their team
* To guarantee that the fundamentals of safety, quality & compliance are understood by the team, in place & maintained through strong standards, showing leadership through personal accountability
* Accountable for effectively managing the people & company resources, including the safety, quality, & compliance, in the area of responsibility.
* Accountable for the effective performance management & development of all team members in line with a clear team plan
* Accountable for achieving the targets & objectives for the area of responsibility, through effective process management, planning & control of resources.
* Accountable for coaching team members to deliver improvements within the area of responsibility through use of the Operational Excellence toolkit,
* Accountable for leading problem solving & performance management within the role holder’s zone of responsibility
* Complexity
* >50% of hours worked outside standard office hours & hence role requires high degree of self-reliance & ability to assess the impact of, e.g., non-standard safety and/or quality events
* Ownership of ±4 weeks production (resource) plan & performance with respect to anticipating problems
* Aware of 0–6-month production horizon & input into supply chain planning process
* Aware of site & supply chain performance & role in influencing the performance measures
* Able to lead/prioritise/execute multiple activities across span of control, covering safety, quality, supply, people and continuous improvement deliverables
* Requirement to liaise & interface with a wide range of supporting functions including Quality, Training, Engineering, MSAT, Validation, supply chain & OPEX
