Lecturers - Mathematics - GCSE and Functional Skills

Part time and Permanent

28.8 hours per week

Harrow on the Hill

£33,429 - £46,618 (Pro Rata)

Teacher Training Provided

We are seeking to appoint a full time Lecturer and a part time Lecturer to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills Maths within our cross-College provision, primarily to vocational learners aged 16-18.

This is a challenging but exciting and rewarding area of the College and you would play a key role in supporting our vocational learners with their development and to help them progress onto higher courses or the workplace. You would join a team of skilled teachers with a wealth of experience and knowledge, who are pro-active in sharing best practice with the team in order to engage and enthuse resit learners.

You will preferably possess a degree in Maths or a related subject, with experience of teaching or tutoring Maths GCSE and/or Functional Skills, and have the ability to engage and enthuse 16- to 18-year-olds from a variety of vocational disciplines.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST

The main purpose of the job is to teach Maths, GCSE and /or Functional Skills, to students from a range of curriculum areas and to maximise their success.

Qualifications:

·Degree or equivalent in Maths or related subject (or minimum of Level 3 qualification plus proven successful experience of teaching GCSE Maths for at least 2 years)

·GCSE in Maths and English at Grade C/4 or willing to achieve

·Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. DET, PGCE) or willing to obtain a teaching qualification, supported by the College

Knowledge and Experience

·Experience of teaching or tutoring GCSE and Functional Skills Maths

·The ability to take on course leadership responsibility

Other Skills

·The ability to engage and enthuse vocational learners aged 16-18

·Ability to engage reluctant learners and manage challenging behaviour of learners

·Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

·Good interpersonal skills

·Good teaching practice including good classroom management

·Ability to use IT within the curriculum, including online delivery

·Good administrative/organisational skills and ability to use IT systems effectively

·Ability to work effectively as part of a team

·Understanding of and commitment to Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding

·Commitment to continuing professional development
