Associate Temporary Works Engineer Central London | Permanent | Competitive Salary Car Allowance Hybrid Working A leading and award winning contractor based in Central London is seeking an Associate Temporary Works Engineer to join its in-house design team. The contractor delivers complex built environment projects across London, including major structural alterations, deep basements, demolition and enabling works. With a strong pipeline of secured projects both now and over the next two years, the business is looking to appoint a lead engineer who can strengthen the temporary works capability and help shape the team’s future. The organisation benefits from a stable and experienced leadership team who have been in place for many years, reflecting a collaborative and well-established working environment. The Role Reporting directly to the Head of Temporary Works, you will join an excellent and highly technical design team supporting complex construction projects across the contractor’s portfolio. The team is currently somewhat bottom heavy, creating a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to provide senior technical leadership while helping to develop and structure the team moving forward. This role offers the opportunity to create and mould a team in the direction you feel is most effective, while remaining closely involved in the design and delivery of technically challenging temporary works solutions. Key Responsibilities Leading the design and independent checking of temporary works schemes for major building projects Delivering designs associated with deep basements, structural alterations, demolition and enabling works Acting as Temporary Works Design Lead on complex projects Managing project delivery and coordinating closely with site teams Working directly with the Head of Temporary Works to strengthen the in-house design capability Mentoring and developing junior engineers within the team Liaising with project teams, consultants and site management to deliver practical and buildable engineering solutions Requirements MEng / MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering Chartered Engineer (CEng) with ICE or IStructE (or working towards chartership) Strong experience in structural engineering within the built environment Applicants with temporary works design experience are desirable, however the client is also very keen to hear from building structures engineers who may not have direct temporary works experience. The contractor has a strong track record of successfully developing building structures engineers into temporary works specialists, enabling them to apply their structural engineering knowledge to complex construction and site engineering challenges.
