The starting salary for this role is £52,942 per annum, working 36 hours per week.
We are looking for an Assistant Team Manager (ATM) to join our Mental Health East Team, who will be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding and commitment to the personalisation agenda and be able to demonstrate an applied knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act and the NHS Continuing Healthcare National Framework.
The team is based at Woodhatch Place in Reigate and supports residents across the local boroughs of Tandridge, Redhill, Merstham, Reigate, Horley and Banstead. There is an expectation that you will be in the office at least 2-3 days per week.

About the team

We are a supportive team, consisting of AMHP's, Senior Social Workers, Social Workers, Senior Social Care Assistants and administrative staff. We are a supportive and friendly team, with a wealth of Mental Health knowledge and experience which is shared within the team, where there is a strong emphasis on learning and development which is promoted via regular supervision and team reflection sessions. We strive to support each other, as well as the residents we work with.
About the Role
As an ATM you will support the Team Manager to deliver high quality personalised adult social care, with a clear strength-based agenda. You will be responsible for verifying assessments, authorising when appropriate. You will be supervising both qualified and unqualified staff; working in accordance with the Care Act, and you must also be able to demonstrate an applied and effective knowledge of MCA and safeguarding vulnerable adults' procedures and be able to evidence this. You will have an understanding and commitment to supporting carers and a demonstrable commitment to providing management that supports and promotes Surrey County Council's equality and diversity policy.
You must hold a professional social work qualification, have completed any post qualification practice or training requirements and have current professional registration with their relevant registration authority.
You will need to have competent IT skills and be able and willing to learn to use a variety of software systems. You will need to have the willingness and ability to travel across Surrey in accordance with the demands of the work and the job profile.
As Assistant Team Manager, you will be both managing and supporting the day-to-day running of a busy and dynamic Mental Health social care team, prioritising daily challenges effectively.
You are an excellent communicator and confident in making sound practice decisions that respond flexibly and quickly to changing needs that arise in a high pressure, high activity, team environment. You will be able to develop effective partnership relationships with individuals, carers and families and positive relationships with professional health staff both within and outside the locality team.
Shortlisting criteria
To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
10. Professional qualification in social work and registered with the relevant registration authority
11. Significant post-qualification experience, including some management experience in a social care setting and be able to demonstrate good understanding of the Mental Health and Social Care agenda.
12. Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, assessment, preparation of care plans, monitoring and reviewing outcomes
13. Demonstrable evidence of providing effective professional supervision to AMHPs and less experienced colleagues within a social care setting.
14. Confidence in making sound decisions that respond flexibly and quickly to changing needs and the ability to prioritise daily challenges and expectations
15. Ability to develop effective partnership relationships with individuals and professionals
Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area.Reasonable adjustments where needed will be made for successful applicants who have a disability or long-term health condition to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the job.
