Sport Welfare Project Officer
Contract: Fixed term until March 2027
Hours: 30-37.5 hours per week (flexible working considered)
Location: Home-based with national travel
Reports to: Strategic Lead - Welfare
Active Partnerships is seeking a Sport Welfare Project Officer to support the national coordination of a safeguarding and culture change initiative across sport. This fixed-term role focuses on practical support, insight, and collaboration.
About the role:
This role supports a national programme to enhance safeguarding and welfare in grassroots sport. You will coordinate 63 Sport Welfare Officers nationwide, providing tools, support, and fostering relationships to enable their success. Your responsibilities include gathering insights, supporting operations, developing inclusive resources, and being a supportive contact to promote cultural change in sport.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Coordinate effectively with the central team to deliver the Sport Welfare Officer Programme.
* Build positive relationships with officers and stakeholders, including Sport England, CPSU, and ACT.
* Review evaluations, extract insights, and inform future activities.
* Create reports to support programme management.
* Organize meetings, events, and logistics.
* Collaborate with the communications team on events like SWO away days.
* Assist in developing national tools, templates, and guidance for safeguarding practices.
* Ensure content and communications are inclusive and accessible.
* Maintain good administrative practices to keep tasks on track.
* Travel approximately once or twice a month to regional and national events, with occasional overnight stays.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Strong interpersonal skills: rapport-building, listening, and sensitive communication.
* Excellent organization and time management, especially remotely.
* Openness to collaboration and diverse perspectives.
* Clear written communication tailored to different audiences.
* Ability to identify themes in feedback and support decision-making.
* Basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare, and wellbeing principles.
* Proficiency with digital tools like email, video conferencing, and shared documents.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
* Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Work Environment and Support:
* Primarily home-based, with regular online meetings.
* Travel 1-2 times monthly, with 3-4 overnight stays annually for national events.
* Flexible working arrangements considered.
* Option for co-working or local office access if preferred.
