Position: Support Worker (Full‑time)
Hours: 36 hours per week – day shifts 07:00 to 19:00 on a rotating pattern including every other weekend
Pay: £12.60 per hour
Overview
Wiggington Cottage provides specialist residential support for eight residents with a primary diagnosis of Prader‑Willi syndrome. Our aim is to promote independence, wellbeing and positive outcomes within a safe, welcoming home environment.
What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team dedicated to residents’ wellbeing, using proven therapies to help them move forward with confidence.
* Support residents with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, eating and hygiene
* Perform light housekeeping duties: dusting, vacuuming, changing bed linens
* Assist with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals
* Attend medical appointments with residents, providing assistance as needed
* Observe, monitor and record physical and emotional wellbeing, reporting changes promptly to senior staff
* Support development of family connections and liaise with specialist teams such as Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams
* Encourage participation in social and recreational activities promoting personal growth
Qualifications and Skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature
* Empathy, understanding and patience
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Understanding and ability to follow policies and procedures
* Ability to anticipate and respond to challenges in a caring environment
* Competent in verbal and written English
* A healthcare qualification is desirable but not essential
* Right to work in the UK required
