The Role
We are looking for an experienced Software Asset Management & CMDB Lead to support a major enterprise Zero Trust and asset governance programme. This role will focus on the development and operationalisation of enterprise asset registers, CMDB governance, software and hardware asset management, and information asset lifecycle controls across complex hybrid environments. The successful candidate will work across security, infrastructure, information governance, and service management teams to establish trusted asset visibility, strengthen lifecycle governance, and improve organisational control of critical assets, systems, data, and information flows.
Requirements
* Lead development and governance of enterprise Asset Registers, including:
o Information Asset Registers (IAR)
o Software Asset Registers (SAR)
o Hardware Asset Registers (HAR)
o Data Asset Registers (DAR)
* Deliver and optimise ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, asset governance, and lifecycle management capability
* Establish authoritative asset inventories and support creation of a trusted single source of truth across hybrid estates
* Define and implement asset lifecycle processes covering onboarding, maintenance, retention, archival, and secure disposal
* Support governance and compliance requirements aligned to DSPT, NIS, data protection, and operational security standards
* Improve visibility of information assets, data flows, software assets, hardware assets, ownership, dependencies, and critical services
* Define governance approaches for asset reconciliation, configuration management, and ongoing compliance monitoring
* Work closely with security, IAM, infrastructure, information governance, and operational teams to improve asset integrity and risk management
* Support role‑based access controls, auditability, evidence management, and secure operational processes across asset management platforms
Required Experience
* Strong experience with ServiceNow ITAM / SAM Pro / HAM Pro / CMDB
* Experience developing or governing enterprise‑scale CMDB and Asset Register capabilities
* Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, configuration governance, and reconciliation processes
* Experience managing software, hardware, information, and/or data asset inventories within regulated environments
* Knowledge of asset ownership models, data governance, and operational risk management
* Experience supporting governance frameworks such as DSPT, NIS, GDPR, or ISO 27001
* Understanding of ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and asset integration approaches
* Experience implementing governance controls including RBAC, audit logging, secure disposal, and evidence management
* Strong stakeholder engagement and governance experience across technical and operational teams
Desirable Skills
* Experience with Entra ID, endpoint management, or identity‑driven asset governance
* Knowledge of Azure, M365, VMware, Windows, Linux, and hybrid infrastructure environments
* Experience within healthcare, public sector, or regulated enterprise environments
* ServiceNow certifications highly desirable
Security Clearance
This role will require you to have or be willing to go through Security Clearance. As part of the onboarding process candidates will be asked to complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard; details of the evidence required to apply may be found on the government website Gov.UK. If you are unable to meet this and any associated criteria, then your employment may be delayed, or rejected. Details of this will be discussed with you at interview.
