Data Cabling Engineer - £30,000- £40,000 - South West
An established infrastructure delivery business is expanding its engineering team and is seeking skilled Data Communications Engineers to support ongoing network and data centre projects across the UK. This role offers long-term work, varied sites, and the chance to be involved in large-scale, technically challenging installations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out installation, termination, and certification of copper and fibre cabling systems.
* Build and install network cabinets, containment, basket, and trunking solutions.
* Rack, stack, and connect active and passive network hardware.
* Perform structured cabling testing and fault-finding using industry-standard test equipment.
* Work with project documentation, drawings, and method statements.
* Maintain high standards of workmanship while complying with site safety requirements.
* Collaborate with project managers and fellow engineers to meet delivery deadlines.
The Technology You'll Be Working With:
* Copper cabling: Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A
* Fibre cabling: OM3, OM4, OS2
* Network cabinets & containment systems
* Structured cabling standards and best practices
* Cable certification using Fluke DSX-5000
What's Required:
* Hands-on experience in data communications or structured cabling roles.
* Valid ECS card.
* IPAF certification is beneficial but not mandatory.
* Strong understanding of copper and fibre installation standards.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a site team.
