Are you a compassionate and proactive Teaching Assistant who thrives on making a real difference for children with additional needs? A welcoming one-form entry primary school in the London Borough of Barnet is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Key Stage 1 team, supporting a small group of pupils with complex learning needs in Year 1. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys creative, hands-on learning, sensory play, and helping children access education in a nurturing and supportive way. About the Role: You’ll be working alongside another experienced adult in a specialised learning space separate from the main classroom, supporting three wonderful pupils who each require tailored provision to thrive. Your day will include: • Leading engaging story times, sensory sessions, and early learning activities (Nursery/Reception level). • Encouraging communication and interaction—supporting one non-verbal and one minimally verbal pupil. • Promoting independence and confidence through continuous provision and outdoor play. • Using your initiative to adapt learning experiences and routines based on children’s individual needs. • Working collaboratively with teachers and the SEN team to ensure consistent, high-quality support. What We’re Looking For: • Experience working with children with SEN or complex needs. • A calm, patient, and positive approach with a genuine passion for inclusion. • Proactive, reliable, and able to use initiative in dynamic settings. • An interest in sensory-based and play-led learning. Why Join This School? You’ll become part of a vibrant, well-supported community school that values every child’s potential. With a pre-nursery, nursery, Children’s Centre, and Additional Resource Provision (ARP) on site, the school is committed to inclusion and holistic education. You’ll work in a nurturing environment with a collaborative, supportive staff team who care deeply about their pupils’ progress and wellbeing.
