Behaviour Mentor – 1:1 Support for Pupil with ADHD

We’re looking for a committed Behaviour Mentor to work 1:1 with a pupil with ADHD and behavioural challenges in a welcoming Newport primary school. Starting this September, the role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm.
This is a rewarding opportunity to build a meaningful connection with one child—supporting them with emotional regulation, learning engagement, and positive behaviour, while working closely with a supportive team.
The Role:
1:1 Behaviour Support – Provide daily personalised support to help the pupil manage ADHD-related behaviours and stay engaged in learning.
️ Consistency & Trust – Build a stable, nurturing relationship that fosters emotional safety and supports long-term development.
Classroom Support – Assist with learning tasks, break down instructions, and keep the pupil on track throughout the day.
Team Collaboration – Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team to implement tailored strategies and behaviour plans.
Adapt & Respond – Use proactive, calm responses to manage challenging moments and support positive choices.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience supporting children with ADHD, SEMH or challenging behaviours (professional or personal).
A calm, empathetic, and patient approach.
Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence.
Confidence in using positive behaviour strategies and promoting self-regulation.
EWC Registration (Support Staff)
Enhanced Child-Only DBS on the Update Service
Two recent references covering the last 24 months
