Technical Architect - Retail(16352)
Description
Job Title: Technical Architect – In-flight Retail
Location: Luton, UK (Hybrid Working)
Full-time, Permanent
easyJet is embarking on an exciting transformation of its in-flight retail technology, deploying modern, scalable, and resilient supplier-led solutions to deliver a seamless onboard retail experience for both customers and crew. We are seeking a Technical Architect – In-flight Retail to act as the architectural authority for this critical domain.
In this role, you will provide assurance and oversight across all aspects of in-flight retail technology, including onboard ePOS and payments and integrations with retail logistics and finance partners. A distinctive challenge in this space is ensuring that systems operate reliably even when connectivity cannot be guaranteed today, while also being adaptable to a future of greater inflight connectivity. You will ensure that supplier-led designs address these challenges and align with easyJet’s enterprise architecture principles, security standards, and long-term roadmap.
This position blends deep technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement, balancing supplier oversight with collaboration across business teams and IT to ensure technology decisions deliver measurable commercial and operational value. You will maintain AS-IS, TO-BE, and transitional roadmaps for the in-flight retail domain, provide assurance and guidance across supplier designs, and partner with enterprise architects to shape the long-term technology strategy. Supporting solution architects and delivery teams during design and implementation, you will collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure solutions drive outcomes such as increased sales, reduced fraud, and improved operational efficiency.
You will contribute to vendor evaluations, RFI/RFP processes, and technical assessments, ensuring solutions are designed for reliable offline/in-flight operation today, with roadmaps that can take advantage of increasing inflight connectivity in the future. Crew usability and simplicity will be at the core of your designs, enabling rapid onboarding and efficient daily use. Lifecycle management, monitoring, recoverability, and security considerations will be embedded into every solution. You will remain actively engaged throughout the delivery lifecycle, ensuring architectural integrity while adapting to project realities, and building strong relationships across easyJet and supplier organisations to drive alignment and successful outcomes.
