Job Description
Randstad is recruiting for an MEP Construction Manager to work on a major Baggage Handling Facility at Heathrow Airport. This is a freelance contract position expected to last into May 2026.
The MEP Construction Manager will oversee all MEP works within the baggage programme, working closely with the works management team and coordinating all works to meet the required project programmes. The role requires collaboration with internal supply chain, HAL supply chain, and HAL project management team.
The MEP Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring all internal and client processes and procedures are followed to deliver the works safely and ensure the works are assured through to handover.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Coordinating with HAL Tier 1 suppliers to ensure all works are fully coordinated and integrated as a system.
2. Leading and coordinating the development of MEP proposals, ensuring alignment across all project functions and disciplines.
3. Facilitating clear communication within the Tranche 4 delivery teams.
4. Managing the MEP supply team, including subcontractors, alliance partners, and third parties, while upholding health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
5. Supporting programme updates and project reporting, providing regular updates to the Senior Leadership Team, and participating in client meetings.
6. Driving MEP mobilisation activities and assisting in procurement processes by identifying long-lead and high-risk packages.
7. Ensuring adherence to Safety Management plans for Electrical, Mechanical, and Testing & Commissioning activities.
8. Overseeing temporary site services and supporting interface management with stakeholders.
9. Championing Heathrow's values and behaviours throughout the project.
Key requirements include:
* Experience in a similar role delivering Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health systems, including management, construction, quality, testing, commissioning, and handover.
* A professional qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Strong leadership, communication, and conflict management skills.
Highly desirable skills include:
* Experience delivering MEP works on major rail or aviation projects.
* Experience with Early Contractor Involvement models and NEC forms of contract.
* Knowledge of industry regulations such as BS 7671 and Building Regulations.
* Expertise in products, construction details, and relevant standards.
* Experience in a self-assurance contract environment.
