Location: Wayside House, Wilson Lane, Coventry CV6 6NY – remote and agile working, with travel throughout Coventry and Warwickshire.
Salary: £64,455 – £74,896 a year (pro‑rata)
Contract: Permanent, part‑time.
Job Summary
We are looking for a committed and passionate Principal Clinical Psychologist to lead the Children’s Intensive Support Team. You will provide a high‑quality specialist applied psychology service, supervise and govern the team, and contribute to service development, research and audit.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialist assessments and psychological interventions for young people with complex needs such as autism, learning disabilities and mental health difficulties.
* Supervise and govern the team in collaboration with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
* Consult with local and external agencies, and participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, CETRs and EMDTs.
* Deliver training, team formulation, service evaluation and supervision to other qualified staff.
* Use evidence‑based, neuro‑affirmative approaches, including Team Function/Limiting Behaviour and strengths‑based strategies.
* Support research, audit and service development activities.
* Respond quickly and confidently to crisis situations.
Person Specification – Essential
* Post‑graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology (or equivalent) approved by the HPC, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, at least two distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
* Knowledge of highly specialised psychological therapies and assessment methodologies.
* Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to convey complex clinical information to clients, families and multidisciplinary colleagues.
* Current UK professional registration.
* Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 compliance – DBS check.
