The Role
A great opportunity for to join the Safelite Managerial team and assist in the management and supervision of all aspects of depot operations including warehousing, distribution, stock control, maintenance, and health & safety compliance. The Depot Manager ensures the depot runs efficiently, safely, and in alignment with company standards and procedures.
Health, Safety & Environment
This role will be required to ensure that all health and safety processes are being followed. Sufficient experience in relevant Health and Safety, loading, unloading and overnight cab stay is essential.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
The specific accountabilities of this flexible role may alter from time to time to meet the needs of the company, but accountabilities will include (or be equivalent in nature to) those listed below:
Operational Oversight
* Coordinate and monitor warehousing, distribution, and maintenance operations.
* Ensure all products are unpacked, cleaned, branded, and re-packed correctly, ready for dispatch.
* Operate forklift as required and ensure safe handling of goods.
* Maintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure safe storage of chemicals and equipment.
* Monitor warehouse emails and calls, liaising with Sales and Operations teams.
Stock & Inventory Control
* Monitor stock levels and liaise with the Operations team to order replenishments.
* Maintain minimum stock levels and ensure accurate stock records.
* Support Operations Management by ensuring all paperwork is completed to a high standard.
Health & Safety Compliance
* Support the H&S Manager in conducting and updating risk assessments for all warehouse activities.
* Monitor compliance of warehouse staff and subcontractors with company policies and safe working practices.
* Conduct regular Toolbox Talks and consult warehouse employees on H&S matters.
* Report hazards, near misses, accidents, and incidents promptly.
* Ensure PPE is worn and provided appropriately for all tasks.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
* Be hands-on and actively participate in loading/unloading vehicles.
* Ensure only trained, certificated, and authorised personnel operate plant equipment.
* Participate in Operations team meetings and collaborate with management to uphold quality and industry standard
The role may require working antisocial hours on occasions.
Overtime may be required for business needs
Level of Knowledge and Experience
Essential
* Proven experience in depot or warehouse management.
* Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and risk management.
* Forklift licence and experience operating warehouse equipment.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills
Advantageous
* Experience in logistics, facilities management, or similar industry.
* IOSH/NEBOSH certification or equivalent H&S qualification.
* Familiarity with stock control systems and operational reporting.
* Experience in non-mechanical plant supply chain.
