Role: Lecturer – Hairdressing and Barbering

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Kingsway Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £31,930 and £36,878 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave (Pro-Rata) plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 21 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Part Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Hairdressing and Barbering to join our Hair & Beauty department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

* Teaching & Learning – Deliver engaging Hairdressing and Barbering lessons, prepare learning materials, assess student work, and support learners in achieving their full potential.
* Curriculum & Quality – Contribute to curriculum development, participate in quality assurance processes, and help maintain high educational standards.
* Student Support & Development – Provide academic and personal guidance, create a positive learning environment, and promote equality, diversity, and inclusion.
* Professional Conduct – Maintain high professional standards, engage in continuous development, and represent the College positively in all activities.
* Statutory Responsibilities – Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and financial regulations, while actively participating in training and development as required.

About you:

* Essential Qualifications – UK-recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, DTLLS, Cert Ed), Level 3 in Hairdressing, Level 2 in Barbering, and assessor qualification.
* Core Skills – Strong communication and organisational abilities, with the capacity to work effectively within a team environment.
* Academic Standards – Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (GCSE A*-C/4-9 or equivalent) to support high-quality teaching and learning.
* Professional Commitment – Proactive, professional approach with a strong focus on student success and continuous improvement.
* Safeguarding & Compliance – Enhanced DBS disclosure and a clear commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion, and health & safety.
