An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full or part-time experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our busy, friendly clinical team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and motivated individual who is willing to undertake clinics within our clinical team, whilst also be able to work independently.
We are a forward thinking training GP Practice with a strong patient centered ethos, based across 3 sites in Stockport with easy access to the motorway network.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated caring individual to provide a high quality of care to our patients. The successful candidate will have excellent organisation skills and have the ability to work on their own as well as be an excellent team member. Experience of being a Healthcare Assistant is essential for this role. The main duties of this role are as follows:
1. BP Monitoring and recording: Conduct and record heights, weights BP for patients
2. Undertake 24hr BP fitting and recording of results.
3. Testing and recording of clinical specimens
4. Undertake ECG monitoring
5. Provide lifestyle advice to patients
6. Provide foot checks for Diabetic patients
7. Provide assistance in Well woman's clinic
8. Provide assistance in Minor surgery & vasectomy clinics
9. Process lab samples requested by clinicians
10. Administering Flu, Pneumococcal & B12 injections according to PSD
11. Monitor & ensure adequate levels of stock in the stock rooms, treatment rooms, fridges & cupboards
12. Vaccine and cold chain monitoring
13. Ensure infection control monitoring/cleaning procedures in place in all clinical areas
14. Chaperoning & assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by a clinician.
15. Ensure all clinical rooms are tidy, clean and well stocked prior to and after clinical session.
About us
We are a very friendly 3 site training practice based in the Stockport Area. We are supported by a large team of individuals consisting of GP's, ANP's, Pharmacists, Well-being Co-Coordinators, FCP's, Practice Nurses, TNA's, HCA's and also an experienced, supportive Clerical Team.
We currently use EMIS Web as our clinical system in conjunction with Accurx as our booking system.
Job responsibilities
1. Nursing.
2. Health assessments including completingany necessary paperwork for which you have received appropriate training.
3. BP monitoring, pulse, rate and rhythm
4. Urinalysis.
5. Venepuncture.
6. Provide lifestyle advice to patientsand taking simple details of medical history.
7. Recording heights, weights, bloodpressure and other measurements of patients as required.
8. Smoking advice.
9. ECGs
10. 24hr BP monitoring
11. Administering flu, pneumococcal and B12injections according to Patient Specific Directions.
12. Basic suture removal.
13. Assist in Minor surgery and Vasectomyclinics.
14. Ordering stock and restocking ofclinical areas and consulting rooms.
15. Chaperoning and assisting patients whereappropriate who are being examined by a clinician.
16. Prepare and maintain environments andequipment before, during and after patient care interventions.
17. Report all matters pertaining topatients care changes in condition/circumstances to a relevant member of thenursing or medical team as a matter of priority and ensure that a documentrecord is kept.
Administrative and professional responsibilities
1. Participate in the administrative andprofessional responsibilities of the Practice team.
2. Ensure accurate and legible notes ofall consultations and treatments are recorded on the computer and in the patientsmedical records.
3. Ensure the clinical computer system iskept up to date with accurate details recorded.
4. Ensure accurate completion of allnecessary documentation associated with patient health care and registrationwith the Practice.
5. Ensure collection and maintenance ofstatistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports.
6. Adhere to Infection Control Proceduresand Policies.
7. Attend and participate in all Practicemeetings as required.
8. Assist in the formation of Practicephilosophy, strategy and policy.
9. Maintain a notice board in the waitingarea designated for patient health care education.
10. Ordering and display of HealthPromotion materials.
11. Have knowledge of and act at all timeswithin the boundaries of health and safety legislation and data protectionacts.
12. Have understanding of equalopportunities policy.
13. Administer call and recall systems inrelation to: chronic disease management; immunisations, breast and cervicalcytology screening; therapy reviews (medications) organise appointments andfollow up.
14. Maintain effective liaison with otheragencies and staff concerned with patient care and with all other disciplineswithin the Practice, with appropriate regard to confidentiality.

1. Completion of recognised Health CareAssistant training.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working within a Healthcare setting
* Holder of a Care Certificate or willing to work towards it.
