Apprentice operative
Contract: Cheshire East Highways
Location: Congleton
Contract Type: Permanent
This role involves working within the maintenance team on the Cheshire East Highways contract delivering essential maintenance work as part of a team.
The Role
•To complete a two-year apprenticeship course in construction highways maintenance
•To undertake highway specific training courses as appropriate to ensure compliance
•Work as part of the highway maintenance operational team.
•Learn and carry out a variety of tasks across highway maintenance; including but not limited to, carriageway and footway works.
•Understand and follow work procedures to ensure own safety and safety of others
•Receive daily briefings and understand risks and control measures required for the task
•Assist with recording work activities using hand-held devices
•To work alongside an experienced team to ensure that works are completed to the required standard and within required timescales.
About You
•Functional Skills (Level 2 / GCSE) in English and Maths are NOT essential, but will be required prior to completion of the apprenticeship
•Basic understanding of health and safety requirements
•Ability to deal effectively with peers, client representatives and the general public.
•Understands and behaves safely and encourages others to behave safely.
•Ability to work as part of a team
