Are you an ambitious stroke nurse ready to work at the forefront of hyper-acute medicine? Queen’s Hospital is a designated Regional Center for Mechanical Thrombectomy, providing life-changing intervention 24 hours a day. We are looking for a dynamic Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our specialist team. This is a high-impact role requiring clinical expertise and rapid decision-making. You will be a key member of the emergency stroke pathway, facilitating hyper-acute assessments, thrombolysis, and the mechanical thrombectomy flow.
You would be required to work shift pattern consisting of a Long Day and Night, including bank holiday and in and out of normal working hours. We are expecting and will provide support to with all governance aspects in the role, to attend specialist training and will be supported in your personal developmental goals. BHRUT is a large cross-site organisation encompassing both Queens Hospital in Romford and King George Hospital in Ilford. HASU is a 24/7 inpatient area consisting of stroke patients in a 14-bed acute stroke unit, with a further 46 bed acute stroke unit where you will be supporting patients through the Stroke Pathway.
You will require Adult NMC registration and proven experience at Band 5 level encompassing ward/acute nursing experience. You would be expected to have a significant experience in Stroke and/or Neurosciences with shift management capabilities and supervision experience. You would need to demonstrate the Trusts PRIDE behaviors and assist in achieving the Trusts objectives.
Main duties of the job
Under the direction of the Matron for stroke and Head of Nursing for Neurosciences manage a cohort of patients referred for specialist intervention, care, and support within Stroke services, being a point of contact for assessment, information and advice for the patient, family and carers and all staff involved in the care of stroke patients.
As Stroke Specialist Nurse the post holder will practice under the direction of the Matron for stroke and Head of Nursing for Neurosciences, working interdependently within their scope of clinical practice and in conjunction with other relevant clinical leads.
